FAMAR FOUNDATION
The history of Famar began in 1973, with the establishment in Rivoli (TO) of M.T. (Marinello-Testa), a small company for machining and overhauling machine tools.
SPECIAL MACHINE TOOLS
The move to Sant'Ambrogio di Torino in 1982 marked the beginning of the construction of special high-tech machine tools, destined exclusively for the Turin production area.
WORLDWIDE INNOVATION
In 1986, Famar launched its first product that would expand its market horizons: the Benjamin twin-spindle horizontal lathe, a machine with a special and innovative loading system.
BORN OF THE ERGO LINE
Between 1994 and 1995, Famar achieved the first real technological revolution in the machine tool market. By designing and creating the prototype and then presenting it at the 11th Emo Fair in Milan, Famar created Ergo, one of the first pick-up vertical lathes in the world.
CORPORATE EXPANSION
In 2001, the Famar factory doubled in size in order to satisfy the ever-increasing demands of its customers. Famar's services expanded, offering not just machines for their own sake, but models which could be perfectly integrated into a production cycle and in full compliance with the standards required in the destination establishments.
AUTOMATION & INFINITY LINE
In 2005 was established Famar Automations, an internal division dedicated to the design and implementation of connection and movement systems between several machine tools. The launch of the Maxer line in 2005 was followed in 2009 by another important milestone with the Infinity model, the first lathe in the world that changes the tool without stopping machining.
OPENING OF THE GERMANY OFFICE
The growth of international relations and the rapid expansion of Famar on the world markets made it necessary to create a concrete presence outside the national frontiers. In particular, in addition to the extended network of agents in different countries, Famar Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH was established in order to manage its customers in the German-speaking areas.
FM MACHINING CENTRES
Famar's aim to offer technological solutions for all manufacturing needs has given rise to Fausto Marinello, a new technological centre where milling solutions are designed and developed using the most advanced machining centres.
FM 25 MACHINING CENTRE
To celebrate the company's 40th anniversary, 2013 was also the year of the launch of the brand new, innovative FM 25 Machining Centre.
OPENING OF THE CHINA OFFICE
In 2018 Famar celebrated its 45th year by selling more than 3,500 machines worldwide. The company's international expansion led to the establishment of Famar Machinery Ltd, a sales office in Shanghai responsible for the Oriental market.
IN-HOUSE KNOW-HOW
The internal production of the main components of Famar, Fausto Marinello and Famar Automations machines has always created a strong competitive advantage over the entire machine tool market. For this reason Famar Meccanica was established.
