The Famar Group represent
a great reality present all over the world

OUR HISTORY

It all begins in 1973, in Rivoli, on the outskirts of Turin. In a setting of workshops, technical expertise, and a culture of hard work, M.T. – Marinello Testa is born, a small company specialising in mechanical processing and the overhaul of machine tools. From the very first years, innovation isn't a goal, but a method. Growth is guided by a clear industrial vision: improve processes, simplify production, increase machine reliability.

This is how M.T. evolves into Famar S.r.l., transforming from a specialised workshop into a manufacturer of machine tools and laying the foundations for the development of the current group. Today, Famar Group continues on this path, upholding the same philosophy as always: combining mechanical precision, automation, and technological innovation to improve the way things are produced, every single day.

Marinello - Head

The story of Famar began in 1973, with the launch of M.T. (Marinello-Testa) in Rivoli (TO), a small company specialising in mechanical processing and the overhaul of machine tools.

transfer to Sant'Ambrogio

With the move to Sant'Ambrogio di Torino in 1982, the journey of building high-tech special machine tools began, limited to the Turin production area.

the horizontal lathe

As early as 1986, Famar launched its first product intended to broaden its market horizons: the Benjamin twin-spindle horizontal lathe, a machine with a special and innovative loading system.

the technological revolution

Famar, between 1994 and 1995, achieved the first true technological revolution in the machine tool market. With the design and creation of the prototype and subsequently with its presentation at the XI Emo Trade Fair in Milan, Famar created Ergo, one of the first vertical lathes with a pick-up spindle in the world.

double the facility

In 2001, the Famar plant doubled in size to meet the ever-increasing demands of its customers.
Famar's services are expanding, offering not just machines in themselves, but models that can be perfectly integrated within a production cycle and in full compliance with the standards required in the destination facilities.

automation systems

In 2005, Famar Automations was established, an internal division dedicated to the design and manufacture of linking and handling lines between multiple machine tools.
The launch of the Maxer line in 2005 was followed in 2009 by another major breakthrough with the Infinity model, the world's first lathe that changes tools without stopping the machining process.

Landing in Germany

The growth of international relations and Famar's rapid expansion into global markets has made it necessary to consolidate a concrete presence outside national borders. In particular, in addition to the widespread network of agents in various nations, Famar Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH has been inaugurated, through which the company manages customers in German-speaking areas.

Fausto Marinello

Famar's commitment to offering technological solutions for all production needs has given rise to Fausto Marinello, a new technological hub where milling solutions are designed and developed using the most advanced machining centres.

landing in China

In 2018, Famar celebrates its 45th year of operation, having sold over 3,500 machines worldwide. The company's international expansion leads to the establishment of Famar Machinery Ltd, a commercial headquarters in Shanghai responsible for the Eastern market.

Production department upgrade

The in-house production of the main components that make up Famar, Fausto Marinello, and Famar Automations machines has always created a strong competitive advantage in the entire machine tool market, which is why Famar Meccanica was created.
